Our dental practice is dedicated to helping patients achieve optimal oral health. All staff members are involved in helping patients receive appropriate care and teaching patients how to care for their particular dental needs. We strive to create a comfortable, supportive environment.

Dr. Virginia Powell
|
Dr. Virginia "Ginger" Powell grew up in Gulfport, Mississippi. She attended college at Mississippi State University where she majored in science and graduated summa cum laude. She attended dental school at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where she also graduated with honors. She then did a general practice residency in Chicago, IL at Michael Reese Hospital an affiliate of the University of Chicago. After this residency she taught operative dentistry at Northwestern University where she was recruited by the University of Washington. At the University of Washington Dr. Powell taught and researched dental caries and dental restorations. Her research papers have been published in national and international dental journals. She retired at the level of full professor in 2000. Throughout her academic career Dr. Powell maintained a practice in general dentistry.
Dr. Powell moved to Ukiah in 2000 to take advantage of the quality of life offered by a smaller community. She has one daughter, Amelia, who graduated from Ukiah High School in 2009. Her husband, Scott Hegan, is a local glass artist. Her hobbies include reading, hiking, yoga, and travel. She sponsors various soccer clubs, and contributes to a variety of local organizations.

I was born and raised in Mendocino County. My career in dentistry began in 1997 as a high school student. I continued my dental education and received my Registered Dental Assistant license in 2006. I�ve enjoyed working with Dr Powell since 2003 and appreciate the care she provides for her patients as well as all of us team members. In the office I will assist you in scheduling appointments as well as coordinating your treatment with available dental benefits. You may also find me helping in the treatment rooms as needed. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, family and friends.

Since 2007 I have been a member of the team at Dr Powell�s office. I received my Registered Dental Assistant license in 2008. Over time I have created many cherished relationships with existing and new patients. I enjoy creating a comfortable experience for our patients. I enjoy spending time with my family in beautiful Mendocino County.

I began my dental journey with Mendocino County ROP. I joined Dr Powell�s team in 2015 and attained my Registered Dental Assistant license in 2017. Focusing on providing excellent patient care is my priority. Outside the office I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling the world and hiking with my dog.

I grew up in the Ukiah area. I attended Mendocino College and continued on to SRJC where I received my dental assistant certificate. I attained my Registered Dental Assistant license in 2004. I have enjoyed my years as an RDA and look forward to many years to come with Dr. Powell and her team. I am thankful to be working with a caring and happy team in a modern and organized environment.

I am a lifelong Mendocino County resident. I received my degree in dental hygiene from Santa Rosa JC and I�m currently in the process of obtaining an advanced license, Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice, from the University of Pacific SF. I am committed to oral health education and disease prevention. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, children and my extended family.

I attended UCSF and obtained my bachelors in dental hygiene. Being a hygienist I am able to have interaction with many different people. I enjoy being able to help people improve their home oral hygiene and answer any questions they may have. In my spare time I enjoy scuba diving, horseback riding and gardening.
